Xiao Liu and John Winter

Winter, a movie producer, and Liu, an entertainment company director, met in 2015 and moved into their house in Silver Lake in 2017. “LA is an easy place to poke fun at and point out all that’s wrong – traffic, segregation, and homelessness,” says Winter. “But there is beauty in the grime and grit, and humour in all the nonsense.”

Linda Ramone

In 1996, Linda and Johnny Ramone moved into this Sherman Oaks house; she carried on living there after his death in 2004. The Johnny and Linda Ramone Ranch has theme rooms: an Elvis room, a Barbie room, a horror room, a Disney room, and a rock’n’roll room. “I love LA,” she says. “Sitting by the pool and having lunch and cocktails is the best thing ever.”

Jeff Guthrie

“I drove from rural Indiana to California in the summer of 1982 to attend law school,” says Guthrie, who is now chief counsel at HBO, and bought this property in 2013. “Venice has changed dramatically from the counterculture of the early 80s, but the local art scene still inspires me.”
